We work with several funded startup companies and we’re looking for a Linux server sysadmin to join our team. If you’re a sysadmin who finds that things like installing reverse proxies, memcached and PHP opcode caches is like fine-tuning a motorcycle, you’re the right person for us.

Our technology stack is built primarily with Drupal, Debian and Virtualmin and familiarity with them is a big plus. Essentially we’re looking for someone who is well-versed in maintaining and optimizing servers for LAMP-based web applications.

This is long-term contractor position with approximately 15-25 hours a week. Most of us are in Boston, Massachusetts, and we’d like to hire locally, but telecommuting is fine. We’d like you to:

• Act as liaison between us and our webhost (SoftLayer).
• Monitor our servers and quickly resolve problems as they arise.
• Find and debug server performance and configuration issues and identify areas for improvement.
• Help us create policies that improve our data security, backup and recovery practices.
• Provide technical consulting and relevant documentation when needed.
• Join us for occasional conference calls and company retreats in the tropics.
